The Key to a Romantic Ceremony
As a wedding officiant, I have done hundreds of ceremonies. And what I have learned is that it doesn’t matter WHERE you have the ceremony. The only thing that matters is that your guests can feel the love.
I have married couples in opulent ballrooms in the best casinos. I have married couples in their parent’s backyards. I did a wedding on a yacht circling the Statue of Liberty in New York Harbor. I officiated at a wedding ceremony on a beach… everyone in bathing suits including the marrying couple.
Some of these weddings were more “romantic” looking than others… if romance for you means lace and flowers and white tulle fabric blowing in the breeze.
But to me, true ROMANCE is that look in her eye as he slides the ring onto her finger and recites his vows, bringing tears to his eyes. Romance is in the story I tell about how this couple met, learned about each other, fell in love and decided to build a life together. Life can be hard, but love makes everything manageable. That’s romance.
I love my job. Being of service to couples getting married is sacred. They have a LOT of pressure and responsibilities on their plate when they decide to have a wedding. It’s my job to take some of that pressure off the couple. I know what to do. I do it with ease. I make it seem easy. It’s one less thing to worry about. It’s a way to feel taken care of. That is the greatest gift I can give my clients.
So have your wedding in the playground where you grew up. Have it in your favorite honky tonk bar where they serve tap beer and barbeque. As long as the ceremony is heartfelt, your wedding will stand out in everyone’s minds as the most romantic they ever saw.
